OnShift alternative
EasyPBJ vs OnShift: PBJ on its own, or PBJ inside a workforce platform.
OnShift sells PBJ reporting as part of a workforce platform that also covers scheduling, hiring, payroll and HRIS, and engagement. EasyPBJ does one job: it turns the payroll and agency files you already have into a reviewed PBJ filing, at a published price, without a demo.

Which one fits your facility.
An honest split. OnShift does more than PBJ; EasyPBJ does PBJ only.
OnShift may fit better if
- You also want to replace scheduling, hiring, or HR tools, and PBJ is one part of that project.
- You prefer a vendor team to map your job descriptions to CMS job codes with you.
- Staff will use a check-in app to capture hours your current systems miss.
EasyPBJ fits better if
- You already have payroll and agency systems you are keeping, and you need the PBJ filing done well.
- You want to see the price and try the full workflow before talking to anyone.
- You want each PBJ hour traceable to the source row, with your review decisions saved for an audit.
- Your facility has 25 or fewer employees in a quarter, so downloads are free.
Common questions.
Is EasyPBJ an OnShift alternative?
For PBJ reporting, yes. EasyPBJ prepares the PBJ filing from your existing payroll and agency exports. It does not replace OnShift’s scheduling, hiring, or HR features, so it fits teams that only need the PBJ part or that use other systems for those jobs.
How much does OnShift PBJ reporting cost?
OnShift does not publish a price on its website, and its Capterra listing says “Contact vendor.” EasyPBJ is free to prepare any quarter, free to download up to 25 employees per facility per quarter, and $149 per facility per quarter above that.
Can I use EasyPBJ if my time clock is in OnShift or another system?
Yes, if that system can export hours as CSV, TSV, or Excel. EasyPBJ imports the file, asks you to confirm each column mapping, and keeps the original file with the filing. It is a file import, not a live connection.
Does either product guarantee CMS will accept my PBJ file?
No software can guarantee that. After upload, check the CMS validation report in iQIES to confirm what CMS accepted.
Compare it with OnShift on your own terms.
Open the sample filing with example data, no account needed. When you are ready, prepare your own quarter free.
